Beyond Forever
How long have I stood frozen
In the middle of this floor?
Coffee hotter than my heart
Staring at the door.
We spoke words harsh and heavy
That should never have been said,
I could’ve said, “I love you too”
And headed back to bed.
But sometimes selfishness gets loud
And feeds on hurtful things,
Things long believed forgotten
Yet waiting savagely in the wings.
Let’s stop this destructive habit
And fight for what’s worth fighting for,
I’ll love you beyond forever
And possibly further more.
